When The Saints Go Marching In, Coreopsis

Yellow Coreopsis flowers on "When The Saints go Marching In," Nature Sketch by Nancy E Wiist.

In the language of flowers the coreopsis meaning is to be always cheerful or love at first sight. I don't know much about the love at first sight but they certainly are a cheerful flower that seems to love blooming non stop throughout the summer, especially if they are deadheaded regularly.

My ink sketch before the watercolor painting was added of yellow coreopsis on "When The Saints Go Marching In."

This art was a commission so original is not available. Reproduction 5x7" note cards and prints are available. send me an email: nwiist@outlook.com

When The Saints Go Marching In

O when the saints go marching in,

O when the saints go marching in,

O Lord, I want to be in that number

when the saints go marching in.

O when the sun refused to shine,

O when the sun refused to shine,

O Lord, I want to be in that number

when the sun refused to shine.

O when they crown him Lord of all,

O when they crown him Lord of all,

O Lord, I want to be in that number

when they crown him Lord of all.

Lyrics: Negro Spiritual, sadly I could not find the author of the words to this hymn.
