Something For My Savior, Allium

Allium on "Something For My Savior," A Glimpses of Melody, Nature Sketch by Nancy E. Wiist

Ink and wash painting of an allium flower also called ornamental onion.  This hymn made me think of this beautiful flower from the onion family that has traditional meaning of prosperity, patience, humility, grace, and unity.  “Onion” comes from the Latin “onto,” which means “unity” or “one."

John 17:21  “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, …”

Something for My Savior

I would be a constant light, Beaming with a luster bright,
Guiding erring ones aright - A light that shines for Jesus.

I would be a reaper true, In the fields so white to view,
Where the laborers are few - A harvester for Jesus.

I would be a voice to tell, How our Lord loved us so well,
That He came to earth to dwell - A voice to speak for Jesus.

I would live for Christ, so be May be glorified in me,
Thought the grace that others see - A life all spent for Jesus.

Chorus.
For Jesus, For Jesus, I will Labor all my days; yes,
I would work for Jesus' praise, Do something for my Savior.
